Brutal Bosses v2.1

It seems the Bob-omb Buddys don't work properly anymore since the latest update, cause their question and answer textboxes don't show up properly.
 
Is there a third baby penguin somewhere? I've been all over the map in CCM and mama doesn't like either of the two vanilla penguins

Try paying attention to the dialog. I think playing with Character Select enabled makes NPCs say their vanilla lines, so you might have to temporarily disable that.

yea the third penguin spawns in another level. Usually the mother mentions the level the penguin is in. Its a diffrent level everytime too. Just find it grab it and exit to castle and it should come with you
 
The hand bosses are just straight up not fun, they will spam their slam attack until they stun you to death which you can't hurt them during, or just quickly push you off the map before you're even able to react to anything. Unless there's a gimmick that's not being stated, they desperately need a rework. even just making the boss area bigger so you have more room to not immediately die would help a lot
 
Dialogue Reset

I occasionally mix save and mod files as I try to get the configuration I want. After switching from Hard/Gore mode to Brutal Bosses, King Bob-omb's dialogue has been reset to vanilla, and I don't know how to fix it, even after closing and reopening the game.

ok i loved this mod but uh i think it is broken because the questions and answers are invisible and the dark star counter is also invisible and well i honestly hope this mod gets updated because i really wanted to play this mod with the hardmode/gore mod because I'm always looking for a harder challenge so yeah... and i hope new dark star challenges gets added like maybe one for Koopa the quick

I added a disclaimer to main page for this mod- it's a bug with Character Select.
If you would still like to use Character Select with this mod, download the latest in-dev version of Character Select from its GitHub page, which has fixed the problem.

I love this mod so much, it finally gives the bosses the difficulty they deserve. Do you plan to balance it out more, some bosses doesn't seem to have any amount cooldown on their attacks, specially on the final bowser fight where he constantly spams fire attacks and his fire spin attack seem impossible to dodge. Yoshi justs spams too many enemies and could do with enemy cap
 
The 1.5 update for coopdx has rendered the fight with Yoshi impossible to trigger. Yoshi keeps using his vanilla behavior of maxing out your lives and leaving instead of fighting the player(despite the custom pre-fight dialog still displaying).

The toads for what was once the star of the third floor also don't function properly: the ones in the courses retain the dialogue of the castle toad. I don't remember if anything else is supposed to happen after that, but nothing seems to, even returning to the castle.

That might have been because of the Character Select version you were using. I was using an Indev version of CS from github and the custom dialogs from Brutal Bosses(and the "fetch quest" Toads) worked as expected.
