There is a free camera option in the options section, but I recommend you learn to use the original camera. You can switch between Lakitu mode, Lakitu mode zoomed out, Mario mode, Mario mode zoom out, and fixed mode. Lakitu mode is for general use and Mario mode is for when there's a lot of walls that make the camera move in unwanted ways. Fixed mode is very situational and you generally won't use it unless you want to see an area but be an a different location.
