Character Select

Character Select v1.16.3

Edit:
No errors come up, but the game isn't replacing Mario's name in any of the dialog boxes. No matter who I select, dialog will always call the player "Mario". Not sure if there's a specific way to activate this, or if there's some bug preventing the dialog from being changed, or what's going on. Even tried deleting and reinstalling Character Select fresh, with the same results.

Easy to see by going to the sign near the 120-star cannon outside the castle: regardless of who you're playing with Character Select, it'll still say "But remember: Mario can't breathe under the water."

Actually, ignore this post, and the initial edit. Another CS mod was changing how the text replacement worked, so it was only working for those characters, and nobody else.

After I updated the game to the newest version, an error appears and won't let me use the mod. Only the owner of the server can use it. EDIT: Sometimes I can use it, but it is bugged, and other players won't see my character or will show a random one in it's place

I'm experiencing a rather gamebreaking issue. When I press the "Exit Menu" button on the character select screen, it instead changes the type of menu from drop down to the character profile squares, and disables all of my button inputs except the b button, which does not exit the menu. This effectively softlocks my game and forces me to quit coop64dx in order to reset it.

Is there any way to fix this issue, or do I need to re-install the mod? It came with the latest coop64 update, so I don't know what to do.

Is there a way I can add custom graffiti textures for the character selects of any mod characters? It might be a bit painstaking to make them all but if it really adds flair to them besides just the CS default.

GitHub has a bug RN where Chrome users can't download anything. Is there a mirror I can use to download the hotfix in the meantime?

IDEA?
I was thinking to myself, that would be nice if they made a character locker, you know like, the host of the server can make some CS Characters host only, and if people want the character, then the host has to make it public for people to use, but if the character is completely locked, no one and the host cannot use that character, like the mockup i made here.
Character Locking is an API only feature for custom progression purposes, I never want to give the host unfair advantages such as an exclusive character. If someone else wants to make an addon that adds this functionality they can

Is it necessary for the new UI to be this visually noisy and use up so much of the screen space? I understand wanting to establish some visual flair, but I'm worried that these changes overshadow the core functionality and focus of the mod/API. From my point of view, I'm just interested in the basic functionality that this mod provides. I realize that there's a creative vision for this mod and I would like to iterate that this is just my opinion, and I am not intending to come off as aggressive in any manner. I am just one user, but it would mean a lot to me if you would take something like this into consideration.. I play the game in split-screen with nucleus co-op (which was already sort of a pain with the previous version of the UI design). How well does this scale with a more vertical-oriented window size? I have not tried it yet, as I'm worried it won't be usable.

Whenever I try to use it, the game says it's the 1.12 version of the mod despite me downloading the latest version from Gtihub and it has script errors. Any help?
