Mario twirls in the air, just like in NSMBWii, but with a few modifications for adjusting to the 3D plane. Press A to twirl for a moment, and you can even switch around your direction with the joystick mid-twirl!
The twirl is a move that has been, in Super Mario 64's spirit, given plenty of technical versatility. Runners and casuals alike, enjoy the ability to combo long jumps into jump combos with a twirl that also carries your forward momentum over.
That's not all, either. Suddenly regretting a jump? Twirl back into safety. Need to negate fall damage? Just twirl! Many Kaizo platforming challenges, and jumps that look juuuuust doable become a little easier on you with this simple tool in your moveset.
