I like that theme a lot. I feel the beginning part sounds like a menu selection type of thing to me.

I do agree with the idea of getting arena new music because the base sm64 tracks aren't fitting to the situation. Though I do find a FF7 remix to be quite odd as a replacement. Though with Mario 64 modding history, taking tracks from other games ain't that new of a thing. Maybe this can be a community effort to do a new track for each stage.
