Inspired by Adventure Quest and Mario RPG I give you.... Plumber's Quest 64

looks like a cool mod but how do i start it?
Hey thanks for checking it out!

It slipped my mind to add the install instructions to the page when uploading (even though the README is included)
You can start it by dragging the mod into your mods folder (PQ64-v1.0)
Then inside the game select the mod "Plumber's Quest 64 v1.0 (Release)" to toggle it enabled.

When you host your game it will auto-load the mod, you should be met with the title screen and class selection.
If for whatever reason it doesn't show the title, you can use "/pq enable" as a chat command for it to pop up.
You can toggle it again to resume normal gameplay.
Hosts can also manage their games with the dev commands I left in. (These can be used with /pq dev to enable)

Dev commands:
/pq setlevel <1-99>
/pq setgold <amount>
/pq fullheal (heals entire team)
/pq loot <forces lootbox for buffs>
/pq give potion, ether, elixir, etc

New v1.1 sneak peek

Working on a update for Friday at the latest.
Hopefully this will make it easier to play with your friends with the mod enabled. Sorry about that
Also people have been requesting a move in the position of the menu so I have moved it to the bottom center of the screen, with the option to hide the menu.

CrypticTM updated Plumber's Quest 64 with a new update entry:

v1.1 (Bug fixes + Party system)

Added three new enemies into the mix
Added a requested ability to hide the menu with buttons
Added the ability to disable the mod in the mod menu.
Added the ability to battle anywhere (WIP, some enemies may appear invisible*)
Added the party system (WIP, some members may not see the same enemy)

Fixed the duel system not pulling everyone into the stage
Fixed the glitch with the spell "Fireball" harming the player
Adjusted the main menu to be positioned in the bottom center of the screen...

cool update I like the new enemies and the ability to hide the menu and now i can pick my class when im with my friends but whenever we're in a party we dont fight the same enemy or fight together at all are we doing something wrong
Nothing wrong on your end! I’m planning 2v2 duels and party battles in a future update. The party system had some sync issues where members wouldn’t spawn properly in battles, so it's still a work in progress. I'm thinking I might even add the ability for players to have different party quests, depending on how many players are in the game. Let me know what else you’d like to see!

(oh boy this is gonna get long so buckle up...) ok so what i mean by riddled with bugs is bugs like when i mash jump to attack i just fly every single time, if you get hit by enemies in the non rpg stuff while fighting you can still battle in the rpg stuff which is cool but i exit out of the level just to respawn there... why can't you just set the non rpg health to infinite?
I know you already mentioned bowser being buggy in the mod description but other enemies are buggy as well... thwomp and piranha plant have weird hit boxes when attacking that slow down the pace of the game.
(not an bug but still wanna mention it...) when attacking, mario's voice will play even with other characters.

Alright i'm done with bugs now for nit picks. selling... WHERE IS IT. even if you are adding it later i feel like it should have been added on the first update, i have equipment rotting in my inventory and i wanna sell it for gold. Please add enemy encounters in different levels, for example when pressing the fight option it should teleport me to a snowman fight in ccm or sl, dynamic battle encounters would really spice up the gameplay and make it feel like a journey.

equipment should be locked for a certain level. I am able to buy the strongest equip really quickly and sweep everything...
also add more items.
and enemies
and bosses
and game mechanics to spice up the counter mechanics to be similar to either mario and luigi with their counter attacks, or paper mario's guarding
maybe even new music and levels?

oh yeah one of the worst offenders is i picked the warrior class and i kid you not every single battle i NEVER used spells, just attacking (except for quests)

finally i want a really brutal difficulty, one that makes me use every bit of knowledge i've got! (maybe even a wipe save feature if i die...)
sorry... i'm not trying to sound rude or anything, in fact this mod has potential to be really great, it's just that in the state it's in now, it feels really bland.

New enemies, bosses, levels, music, mechanics, encounters, equipment progression... that's basically the roadmap haha
I really appreciate you taking the time to go this deep with the feedback. Plumber's Quest is still a work in progress, and honestly this is exactly the kind of criticism that helps me figure out where the gamemode is falling flat. I definitely don't want to leave it in a bland state.
yeah... selling. 😂 It's coming, but I agree that having equipment pile up with absolutely nothing to do with it is pretty bad. That should have been there earlier.

You'll have unlocks for progression , level 15 you'll get to upgrade your skills + spells. Warrior will be tweaked , as mentioned in v1.0 the class was meant to be a powerhouse. I'll work on adding some more balance for the other two classes.

Heres what I've been working on so far and hopefully it's worth while to continue checking out. Sorry to disappoint with the mechanics and animations that weren't added in 1.0

Work being done
combat work + shop
UI rework + changes

CrypticTM updated Plumber's Quest 64 with a new update entry:

v1.2.0 - What should've been in v1

  • Worked on the combat system, tweaked the damage calculation (All classes are affected)
  • Added badges into the gamemode, you can check these out, mess around with them,
let me know what you'd like to see adjusted

Fixed the forever shrunk bug, although it was kinda funny it seemed to upset a lot of players.
There was a workaround, if you walk back under the Thwomp it will bring your character back to normal scale
  • Fixed the shop to allow for...
