Importing character mod models to blender

I've been trying to find a way to import models from character mods to blender to make animations with, and I haven't found any luck. Can someone help me import models to blender?

I would suggest asking the creator for the blender files, but please remember a lot of them don't trust that easily, it is the source of their work after all.
