direct connection, and private lobbies, are 2 different things. direct connection only allows for 2 players, and you dont need no code, no nothing. and the devs CANNOT ban you from doing that, while private lobbies are lobbies that allow multiple players but you have to enter a code to go to it.

you can play a private lobby.
here's how to do so.
first- go to the host page.
click on "coopnet" for network, and under that, enter any password you want.
then- give your friend the password, and your friend must go to the join page, and there should be a "private lobbies" option, and your friend should click it, and enter the password, the lobby should appear, your friend should click on it, and wait to join, and done! you are now playing on a private lobby
