Blocky submitted a new mod:

CoopDX Randomizer - Randomizes level entrances, object positions, music, skybox

This fixes a few bugs, as well as adding a few new features!

- /seed command, now you can choose a seed in game, all you have to do is do /seed [number

- Persistent warps, Now exiting out of a level will lead you to where you entered it from

- Painting Preview, You'll now be able to see where a painting will lead by just looking at it

- Entry level info, you'll get to see what level other played went in to get to the level they are currently in by checking...

- Seed is now displayed above the player list

- Made new random functions so that players on different platform have the same RNG

- Added an API _G.randomizer
- get_randomized_level_from_course
- get_entry_level_from_local
- get_synctable
- set_synctable
- send_packet

Yo! Love the mod, big time. Been playing for awhile now with friends and even doing speedruns of this with them, but I've got a few questions.

  • Is Chip of the Whomp's Block obtainable?
  • Such things as swimming back and forth through loading zones in WDW & DDD, leaving and re-entering the igloo in SL, and a few other cases, re-load the other area in a different random configuration. This is usually necessary to obtain the Board Bowser's Sub star in order to unlock the Bowser in the Fire Sea entrance. Is this intentional? (All my homies don't do SBLJ)
  • Outside of Boss/Objective stars, which have a designated spawn, other very specific stars often will be in their vanilla location and will not be randomized such as To the Top of the Fortress, Inside the Ancient Pyramid, both Volcano stars in LLL, Into the Igloo, and every star in TTC. This also can happen with Red Coins and frequently occurs in TTC as well.
  • Objectives like Red Coins, Treasure Chests, and very rarely Stars (and even the Manta Ray, but he's usually respawnable) can spawn out of bounds, or inside of other geometry (like the Pirate Ship) on many stages, making said star impossible. Sometimes there are only 7 Red Coins inside of a Secret Star course due to this.
  • Upstairs Toads can spawn behind the Snowman's Land mirror, becoming unobtainable.
  • The Wiggler can spawn in the Red Coin area. This star is still obtainable with two players, when this... Bug... happens.
  • Is there a way to get the last 1/3rd of Bowser in the Sky without the moving platform there?
  • Big Penguin Race Penguin frequently calls me a Cheater or a Loser, truly a randomizer of all time, lol.

...and that's all I got! Even with a few bugs, 70 Star Runs are always possible and has made for a unique experience every time. This is definitely a must have mod for CoopDX. Keep up the great work!

Don't know what update you are on but Some of these issues have been fixed in the latest version!
  • Is Chip of the Whomp's Block obtainable? | It should be as of now
  • loading zones in WDW & DDD | This is known and i have no idea how to fix it
  • Outside of Boss/Objective stars, which have a designated spawn | This is also known, trying to figure it out, but since i didn't want the star to just spawn inside something unreachable due to the randomness and combined acts i decided to make every star spawn on top of mario as of the latest version
  • can spawn out of bounds, or inside of other geometry | if you could give me more examples of objects spawning oob that would be great! (i need to place avoidance points manually in some cases)
  • Upstairs Toads can spawn behind the Snowman's Land mirror | same as above, i'll fix it
  • The Wiggler can spawn in the Red Coin area | i'll fix that too
  • the last 1/3rd of Bowser in the Sky without the moving platform | Yes, all thats needed is a well placed long jump wallkick, however i will restore the platform as i realise a lot of people struggle with this
  • Big Penguin Race Penguin frequently calls me a Cheater or a Loser | What

I'm glad there are a lot of fixable elements, that's great news!

  • First off, I had no idea that Bowser in the Sky jump was possible, thanks for teaching me!
  • The loading zones themselves don't pose much of a problem, but those are immediately some examples of OOB placements that stuff shouldn't spawn in (like Red Coins behind you while you're swimming into the Town in WDW, but when you double back to grab them, they disappear due to the loading zone.)
  • Some other impossible places that I can think of are in the entrance to Metal Cap, there are 4 pillar-walls in the corners of the room. I saw that a sign spawned inside one of those, and was thankful it wasn't a Red Coin. The ship at the bottom of JRB also has had Red Coins and Chests stuck within it. I learned how to do Ship Clip, but this is still tricky sometimes. I've definitely done the Aquarium and Wing Cap Switch levels and only seen 7 Reds before, and have no idea where the 8th is in the previous version.
  • The point I made about the Big Penguin Race Penguin seems to be he randomizes his textbox after the race (Cheater/Loser/Winner), and you need him to specifically say that you won the race in order for him to give you the star. Now it seems that ALL Textboxes are ALL random (which is kind of cool and funny, but could potentially cause problems.)
  • The CCM Slide star no longer spawns in latest version?
  • The objective stars like killing a boss, or opening crates was vanilla and that wasn't necessarily a bad thing since the requirement for obtaining it (like King Bomb-omb's position, or the placement of 4 crates in JRB/DDD as some examples) was already randomized. It was more related to the open stars that float naturally being vanilla that I was mentioning in my previous message (like the TTC stars.) The Chip of the Whomp's Block star was the only instance of this that was not good, since there was a tower in the way. Also Red Coins Stars already have their placemat/spawner randomized, but now the star spawns overhead which makes them unused. I understand you don't want the star to be somewhere unreachable so I understand the current idea.

I'd love to be of help of any possible way. I regularly make clips of my gameplay, so I can start clipping my findings too if that is of any help as well.
I hope the updates are smooth and not too taxing. Thank you!

Gonna work on a little video compilation of all the stuff I just found in my last 120-star attempt. Probably be posted here (if possible) in an hour or so.
Things that'll be in video: Penguin/Monkey/Toads not giving stars, CCM slide not awarding star, locations that have had things spawn that we can't grab in previous runs, 50 coins needed for 100-coin stars, star spawns that duplicate for every player in the lobby and only teleport to one player, me actually hitting the BitS Long Jump tech you told me about, and more!
Bonus: It won't be in the video but there is a shadow in the middle of BitS that I assume has to be the 8th Red Coin on Seed: 48484852852 (new default?) To our avail, is impossible to grab.
