So Retro!

So Retro! v2.0.2

Remember how I said I made some corrections to the custom character process? Well, I uploaded the OLD file, so it STILL said so_retro.zip. Now that has been corrected for real this time. A large amount of inaccuracies were also brought to my attention, so I fixed a few easy ones.
Some minor fixes, with some relating to custom characters.
  • Adding a missing Koopa Paratroopa to D-1 that prevented the level from being possible in single player
  • Fixed a script error if all players died in a level while bubbles were enabled
  • Made the modfs create itself immediately upon loading the mod if it doesn't exist
  • The example mod now properly explains how to import custom characters (previously, it referred to so_retro.modfs as so_retro.zip and assumed it was auto-treated as a zip file.)
In case you missed it last year (since I presented it as a shoddy rom hack), this is a port of Super Mario Bros. to sm64coopdx, with the goal of being a decently-accurate port. This HUGE update brings tons of new features, including widescreen support, new server options, and even a new port of Lost Levels! Here are the biggest new features:
  • Lost Levels: Super Mario Bros. 2 (JPN), the notoriously difficult sequel, is now playable! Thank goodness I added an infinite lives option.
  • Custom character support: Supports Character Select integration, as well as including its own character system. You can even load characters from modFs, allowing you to use characters in any lobby! Check out so_retro_example_char.zip for more.
  • Editor + API overhaul: The editor has been reworked to be much more useable, and a highly robust API has been added. As much as I would have liked to have a bunch of example mods ready to go, I've been working on this for far too long, so they will have to wait.
  • MarioHunt support!?: Yes, really. Unfortunately, there may be some minor quirks until the next version of MarioHunt releases.
(NOTE: Main mod is so_retro.zip)
