ProfeJavix submitted a new mod:

Shotgun Coop - Shotgun, Rip and Tear!

This mod gives every player a shotgun with a moveset.

Moves:
  • Y: Shoot
  • Charged Y (hold until the bar is charged): Boost Shoot
  • Ground Pound + Y: Ground Pound Shoot
  • Ground Pound + Charged Y: Boost Ground Pound Shoot
  • X: Toggle First Person

You can use the shotgun either in PvP or with some game objects/enemies, the choice is yours (tip: each move deals different damage, so not all of them will have...

Son: Hey modders, where is the Super Mario 64 shotgun that I was waiting for play in Coop DX?

Some modder: Here is the shotgun in the Coop DX

The shotgun in the Coop DX:

But why the Shotgun shoots shells? It's supposed to shoot birdshot/buckshot?

While the mod could use more polish (hence the 1.0 in the title.) But, this is a great start. Though, I wonder if some options on which button shoots could be added? Some mods use the button to shoot for their own attacks. Like the Mega Man X characters, or Majima.

Still, this is a LOT of fun to mess around with. Another thing is, maybe you could make it a setting if you can ground pound again after doing the shot jump? That way, you can't fly around the whole level like that.

Edit: So, after playing more. Can the default height for aiming be a bit higher when out of first person mode? Most of the time, your character shoots toward the ground. And... one more thing. It would be nice if the bullets could hit bosses like the OG mod did. It feels kind of wrong for Bowser to take NO damage from the bullets.

ProfeJavix updated Shotgun Coop with a new update entry:

Bug fixes and QoL addings

Changelog:
  • Fixed a bug causing the player to sink in the moving sands when shooting above it.
  • Added chat commands to change shooting and aiming buttons (/sgcoop-shootBtn and /sgcoop-aimBtn). WARNING: some buttons can conflict with vanilla actions.
  • Added an option to the Mod Menu to toggle the unintended but surprisingly funny flying glitch....

Thanks for the feedback. Some of your suggestions were added in 1.1!

About Bowser and the damage, the goal of the mod is not to be a port of Shotgun Mario, so the gameplay is different (but inspired of course). In the case of Bowser, you can shoot him to cause a stun and grab/throw him instead of taking his only life (3 in BITS). This is the only boss that works like this, the rest can be damaged either in some vulnerable states or with a powerful shot.

Ah, alrighty. I just tested it. And yeah, Bowser gets stunned even from non-charged shots now. That lets you grab him.
(Though I'll admit, it doesn't solve my own personal skill issues with throwing him.... I've always hated trying to hit him into the bombs.)

But yeah, aside from not knowing how to change the buttons for shooting and aiming. (I'd say LB, or L1 for shooting, and D-Pad Up for first person mode would be the best ones.)

This update seems like a really good one.

To change the aim/shoot buttons you must enter the command, then space and then you can press TAB to make it automatically put the available values. Also you can type /? to show every command's info and there you can read the values (remember that the mappings are from N64, so you must know which button of your gamepad corresponds)

Hm... testing this mod some more. I notice Bowser is still a HUGE pain to beat. Like, most of the time, the bullets don't even phase him. (And usually, when he's doing his most annoying attacks at that.... Like the upward fire breath.)

Plus, as I previously stated, the characters have the gun aimed slightly downward. So, when you fire outside of first person mode. The shots have to be REALLY close to do any damage. If they would even aim a little bit higher. That would help a lot. (And, it's not like first person mode would be pointless. You can still snipe enemies that are higher up. Not to mention, it is still more precise.)

One more suggestion.... Maybe the gun could be used under water in a future update? I know that's not realistic.... But, neither is doing a ground pound, shooting downward then propelling yourself into the air.

Still, these minor things aside. This is legit one of the more fun mods for co-op DX. The double (or triple jump if you use the Daisy mod) is a fun way to play this game. Makes it a little more forgiving. (And that is super useful in some mods, like Randomizer.)

Edit: I think I know what's causing the aiming issue... well, sorta. On a perfectly flat surface. The shots aim completely straight. But, on surfaces that are even slightly uneven. The gun aims slightly downward, causing the shots to land close to your characters feet.

But, it's really odd. Try it in Peach's Castle's first floor, and try it near the barred door you can open in Bob-Omb Battlefield. Then walk closer to the start of the level.... The gun dips downward, and starts only working close range.
