Helppp nobody can see what i type in game

I was playing with a friend the other day but he couldnt see my chat messages while i could...

I checked all the settings but couldnt find anything.. what should i do?

Bumping this thread because a friend of mine is having the same issues, he can read MY messages and HIS messages, but I can't read any of his. He entered a public lobby and no one else reacted to his messages either.

I'm sure, I'm 100% sure it's something really simple like not clicking the "Allow" firewall exception when it first pops up, but I can't find anything about it online, and there's no setting for it.

Would appreciate any help, or even guesses! <3

OK! Upon returning to playing with my friend right after this, I could see my friend's texts.

Like, the only thing we did was disable everything and do a regular Mario 64 lobby just to see if it worked (it didn't), then we conceded and decided to just work around it, and the moment we re-enabled ours mod and romhack, suddenly, chat messages can be seen.

strange... it is NOT from firewall stuff, since it uses the same system to connect to coopnet (outgoing request) if it was a thing with your firewall you wouldn't be able to join your game... other than that i dont know
