Is there a way to update to the newest version of coopdx without downloading a whole new copy of the app and have to reimport the SM64 rom all over again? like is there a way to download the update within the game?

You don't need to reimport the ROM. The ROM gets saved to the %appdata% directory so you don't have to do that
Also no, there is not a way to update within the game. There might be a launcher or something similar eventually that'll make updating easier, but for now you gotta download the new release and overwrite all the existing files.
