How do accounts work in this game?

If I were to start using a different PC with a different operating system, would I be using a different in-game account? If so, is there anyway I can use my mod site account and link it to the game?

It's just username, no email or account linking, just use your username from your other devices.

I wasn't able to find the .sav file in the tag folder. What should I do?
