I know B3313 is banned on this website 'because of the kids' but I see nowhere else to post anything concerning the Mario 64 PC Port in general outside of just going to Reddit.

Do I really have to use the Parallel Launcher to play the newer versions?

I just want to play the game and I don't really know how outside of emulation but I don't want to emulate it because we already have all of these PC ports, I just need someone to point me in some kind of direction to where I can experience this game in it's full decompiled nature. Maybe I'm just stuck with v0.7 but if somebody out there with any type of know how would know anything, email me at [email protected]
 
Honestly I was wondering if there was a later version too. Is there anything in 0.9 and 1.0 that would make it worth playing that in an emulator instead of just playing 0.7 in coopdx, considering that I hate the standard Mario 64 camera, the beta moveset, and the beta voices? (I do enjoy me some platforming in liminal spaces, though . . .)

Also I'm pretty sure the other big reason B3313 is banned from this site specifically is that it uses some gigaleak content, and there's concerns about increasing the risk of attracting lawyers.

Other than the game being more complete? I get the sentiment on the Mario 64 camera but I'm so adjusted to it I don't think about how god awful it is.

I mean there's "the game is more complete" as in "we fixed some bugs and added a couple areas," and there's "the game is more complete" as in "we removed a bunch of areas, added a bunch more, and a progression system, and changed the story a ton if that matters to you." Apparently later versions are the second one of those? So possibly worth it to play both, really. Probably not the site to discuss that though. (I swear I'm actually in my 30s, the "Mario in weird places" thing appeals to me not the "also it's the beta" thing!)


Also personally I can deal with Parallel Lakitu Cam even if I will be annoyed it's not freecam the whole time, but Original Mario 64 Cam? Man that thing almost had me throwing my controller when I hadn't played 3D games with a better camera, I swear the move to 3D made my Mom quit playing video games until she slipped into casual stuff when those took off.

. . . also, not gonna lie, I've been playing with OMM too much lately and now Mario's normal momentum feels wrong. Gotta break myself of that if I wanna play newer rom hacks though.

Yes. That's the reason I want to play the game.

This conversation wasn't supposed to spread like wildfire, I don't even know how to disable my thread. If someone could help me out with that, that'd be nice. I'm not trying to turn this place into B3313 plaza.
