Overall, the hack is fine. Has many high points, but VERY bad low points.
WRITING
The hack tries multiple times to have some sort of storyline, but it will break the 4th wall once in a while to give shout-outs to inspirations or credits. While they're nice, it would be better if it was rewritten to fit with the tone/dialogue or it was kept to the credits.
The story is a bit messy... It seems understandable enough, and there is some bits of lore dropped through out as you play the game, but nothing really seems to connect. It feels all very separate. By the time friends and I got to the end of the game, the ending scene made no sense to me.
LEVEL DESIGN / GAMEPLAY
A lot of the levels are very pretty, however many stars require VERY precise platforming that often bogs down the experience. Friends and I would often have to rely on the more experienced, technically-viable players to collect the stars that tasked the player with precise platforming challenges.
I don't think this hack is worth 100% completing. It drags half of the time.
ACCURACY
I can't speak on the accuracy of the original hack, but overall it seems pretty faithful!
