[CS] MARIO '96 v2.1

I don't even like the source material here and this is still a good mod.

Putting aside my two big complaints that really boil down to "I don't like Pipe Crawler or MX very much," the other two characters in this are great. Lucas is a particularly pathetic Mario Bros 1 Luigi, and False Hero is an EXCELLENT Mario 1 "Mario But Wrong."

The pixel eyes that could just be pixel eyes but almost look more like empty sockets, the weirdly lanky proportions, the off animations and lack of idle besides standing in a slightly creepy pose. False Hero rules, and if he was in the source material for more than like two lines of dialogue or one Friday Night Funkin' verse I'd probably be a lot more interested in it. As it stands, I want to make a special note of the amount of care put into him (and Lucas) here, as characters who could have probably been skipped with nobody complaining. I definitely appreciate these guys.

But what I REALLY appreciate is the Mario Bros 1 inspired HUD, usable with any character after hitting up the Character Select options. It's minimalist, it communicates all relevant information, it looks snazzy, and it even has a better act select. My only real complaint there is that it doesn't trigger when star collection is set to non-stop, at least with OMM, and that's really just a bit of default behavior I don't like.

This is a good mod for any fan of Mario 1 or spooky stuff, even if you don't like Mario 85 very much.

5 STARS! AWESOME! only problems are... first of all is that coolrash is the picture on there real and if so how do i access it? and second of all, pipe crawler causes the game to crash when you get hit by the zapper things. i believe other characters do too but i havent tested them for it yet.

The models are good, and I like that it's titled Mario '96, because it references the release of Super Mario 64 just like Mario '85 does for the original Super Mario Bros. All it's missing is a limited moveset for Lucas that makes it like using Super Mario Bros Mario/Luigi, because the original was based on the original game, custom movesets for MX and False Hero, and animations. False Hero can use the same moveset as Lucas if you want, since they both are meant to be like the original characters.

the best part of this mod was when mx said "IT'S MXIN' TIME" and mxed all over the place

These models are awesome... lucas does look very accurate, mx is REALLY good here and false hero is also really fun... damsel would be fun to add in the future tbh
